There is a boarding shortage on Colorado's front range, and my barn is the most full it's been in, well, forever. When I got Olive, I had a choice of three runs to put her in. I chose one facing the ring and near the parking lot. I thought it would be good for her to spend her days watching the hustle and bustle of her new home.
She's seemed mostly happy there...
Because of this, I was able to overlook the run's small size, bad footing and North facing orientation.
Eventually, however, I decided it was time to move. I put Olive on the waiting list for one of the twenty runs on the east side of the property. These runs are bigger, have better footing and face the golf course and bike path. Since Olive is still working through her fear of bikes, I thought it would help her to live somewhere she can see them on a daily basis.
After two months of waiting, today - finally! - one of the runs became available. I moved Olive after our ride. I wasn't expecting a lot of drama, but there was none. She looked around,
greeted her new neighbors...
and checked to see if there was any hay in the feeder. There was!
I drove out there again tonight, just to see how it was going. Olive seemed completely zen. I am so pleased with how this is working out so far. Good girl, Olive!
