Confessions of a former tackmaker

I made a halter on Monday. It took me twice as long as it should have, and I wasn't wholly pleased with the results. Despite the best efforts of my optometrist and a whole host of magnifiers, I just don't have the eyes for this anymore.

I've started referring to myself as a "casual tackmaker," but truthfully, "former tackmaker" is probably a more accurate description. Mostly, I am okay with this. I had a good run. I made lots of things, some of which were actually pretty good. There are plenty of other things for me to do.

And yet...

My phone is filled with detail shots like these.
Maybe I'm not quite as former as I think.

  1. You are not former. You are a legend. You will never be a "former". :)

  2. I will third that, It's not just what you make Jennifer it's how much you share. I was reading over very old posts looking for inspiration and remember reading something about how good 'kids these days' are. You are a huge part of the reason at least for me, why we are so good. Every thought, process and photo you share is a huge help to someone in the hobby. As long as you are doing that you live vicariously through so many of use newer tack makers.

  3. So the fire is down to a bed of coals. There's great heat and some of the best cooking is yet to come...
