I wasn't kidding when I said I was going to get right back to work. All of yesterday was spent building tack. Unfortunately, the customer has asked me not to share photos so instead, I'm sharing more pictures from our road trip to California. First up: Feral donkeys!
Seth and I saw a pair of feral donkeys near the Nevada/California border on our trip to my mom's house. I didn't think we'd be lucky enough to see them again on the way home, but I kept my eyes peeled just in case. It's a good thing, because this time I spotted an entire herd.
Seth knows that we always brake for donkeys, so he pulled over right away.
I got out, camera in hand, and walked back to get a better look at them.
Even though I was a long way off, they were immediately suspicious. I had just enough time to take a few "close-up" photos.
Then the darkest donkey decided it was time to go.They broke into a trot, doubling the distance between us.
Then they stopped and turned around to see what I would do.We contemplated each other for a couple more minutes.
Then I reluctantly bid them farewell, got back into the van and drove on through the desert.
I never expected to see wild donkeys on this trip. What an amazing thing to happen twice!

Its amazing to see horses (or donkeys) in the wild!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing but not so surprising when you're going to a mustang rich environment for the specific purpose of seeing wild horses. Happening across them while driving on the interstate felt like a wonderful and unexpected gift.
