Dashing through the snow

Yesterday I wrote a post inspired by an unsolicited public critique that appeared in the comments section of one of my Advent Model Horse Photo Challenge photos.

Well, that's not exactly true. I've been meaning to write a post on this topic for a long time. The offending comment - which wasn't really that offensive - reminded me to finally sit down and do it.
Since the post was about unsolicited advice in general, I didn't think it was necessary to address the comment itself. However, I did think, "Clearly that person does not live in Colorado."
With our big temperature swings from hot to cold and back again, riding through shirt sleeves in deep snow is commonplace. I made a quick attempt at photographic proof in my own picture files before deciding it really wasn't worth the effort.
Then - like magic! - Shauna McDaniel did it for me.
Deep snow, t-shirt, it's all good.
All kidding aside, I do think my photo would look nicer if the doll was wearing a coat, but that's easier said than done in 1:9 scale. Besides, it's clearly fine as is. Thank you, Shauna, for making my case!

  1. She might have layers of long underwear under her dress shirt! Who can tell?

  2. Actually I do go out in the snow in T-shirt and shorts all the time for a while. If you don't get wet you're all good. And if you're riding your horse is going to be warm. Kinda like riding a moving heater. Don't listen to mean criticism, Jennifer. Only the positive.🙂. And I love that photo. I think that the rider's attire is perfect. It matches the colors of your photo. I don't have a horse, but I love Halflingers, Hanoverians, and Warmbloods. And Kenzie's Welsh mare Moon. Merry Christmas, Jennifer. And Merry Christmas to all, even the neigh sayers.🎄🙂 Merry Christmas to Olive as well.

    1. Oh my gosh, you are so right!!! Horses throw off SO much heat! Not that I’ve ever ridden in snow, but I’ve spent time in a box stall in the middle of winter with my my mare, and I had to take off all my outerwear.
