Five month Oliversary

On Friday, Olive and I celebrated our five month anniversary. 

This month started with a visit from Lilie. Because my focus was on her, I didn't actually ride Olive very much that week.

When I got back in the saddle, Olive was a little... spicy.

And by spicy, I mean she was distracted, disobedient and decidedly on the muscle. Consulting trainer Sarah and I theorized that this was due to her increased fitness.

Then another cause made itself known.

I gave Olive a few days to sort out the hormones, before once again getting back to work.

Happily, that's all it took. She is currently going better than ever.

In fact, she's been so consistently solid...

even in the face of serious distractions!

that we've resumed trail training.

At first, this was mostly walks.

Good pony!

Sunday, we graduated to rides. Yesterday we went around the retention pond. Today, we did that again, plus we rode up and down a hill and walked all the way to the end of the driveway. Very good pony!

Happy five month anniversary, Olive. This month was a rollercoaster. I can't wait to see what's coming up next.
