In memoriam

I attended Erica's Celebration of Life ceremony today.
It was held at the Coal Creek Boy Scout Pavillion, which is a covered picnic area a short ride from Kenlyn Stables.
Rev and I...
joined a group of mourners who rode to the event.
Many of the horses wore flowers in their browbands.
Erica's mother and aunt rode, too.
The outdoor location was perfect...
and photos of Erica were everywhere.
The service itself was lovely.  Erica's dad delivered an achingly heartfelt eulogy...
to an audience that included people,
 and dogs.
It was a beautiful day filled with laughter and tears and a fitting tribute to a woman whose short life touched so many.

  1. Looks perfectly lovely!

  2. Did they ever find out why she just collapsed? That is really sad and I'm sure she will be missed.

    1. Unfortunately, there is still no known cause of death. An autopsy was done, and all the major organs were normal and healthy. They're still waiting on some test results, but it's possible that we'll never know why such a young, active, seemingly healthy person died so suddenly.

  3. Oh what a beautiful way to celebrate her life! Funerals are always really depressing and focus on the death, but things like this are always so much more positive as they revolve around the person and what they gave to the world. :)

  4. What a beautiful and fitting tribute to someone who sounds like a special person. Just reading about the ceremony brought tears to my eyes.

Erica seems to have truly touched a lot of hearts in her short life...

  5. Looks like it was a beautiful and fitting ceremony. How nice that you were able to ride in with the others, and that the horses and dogs were present (I assume Erica's dogs were there). I like that it was called a "Celebration of Life," too.

I can't believe the autopsy hasn't revealed a cause of death yet. Perhaps an aneurysm somewhere, unseen? How disturbing for her family...
