Dog days

What a difference a year makes! Last year at this time, my Abbie dog was looking every bit of her fourteen years. She was suffering from multiple serious but unrelated health problems, and taking her to the vet and giving her medications had become almost a full time job. By the end of May she was under the care of three different vets at three separate veterinary practices, and it really seemed that our time together was coming to an end. Thankfully, that turned out not to be the case. Abbie has done more than just recover--she's thrived. I took these pictures of her yesterday at one of our local dog parks. I doubt anyone who saw her running around would have guessed that she's fifteen years old. So, to celebrate both her current good health and the fifteen happy years of Abbie ownership, I'm doing something I never had planned to do. I'm throwing her a birthday party this Friday. The party is going to be a casual affair with just a few close friends (and their dogs) in attendance. Still, there is a lot of work for me to do. My house is once again in desperate need of cleaning and I have a menu to plan... Does anyone know a good recipe for homemade dog biscuits?
With that in mind, I don't expect this to be a very productive week on either the tackmaking or blogging fronts. This would be a really good time to send me pictures of your Braymere tack in action. Also, if you have a tack tip of your own or some other idea for a guest blogger spot, please don't be shy! I'd love to share your pictures or knowledge. If you're interested, please send me an email and we can work something out.
