The Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza at the National Western Stock Show is long on extravaganza...
and short on actual rodeo.
There were only two competitive events on the schedule Sunday, bareback bronc riding...
and bull riding.
These events were similar but not identical to their PRCA counterparts. In both cases, rode in a quieter, less exaggerated syle with two hands on the rigging and the heels down.
I appreciated that.
The roughstock was smaller and less powerful, but also a lot faster and ranker.
I'm not kidding when I say that some of those broncs were scary. You should have seen what this one did to the professional photographer's camera. Oy!
As I was watching, I couldn't help but notice that most of the cowboys...
were dressed like this doll.
I don't know why...
but I always forget that Jose is actually a nice doll that could be used in a serious performance entry.
All he needs is a protective vest and sombrero and he's ready to ride broncs in a Mexican rodeo.
And you know, I'm pretty sure this pose is right up his alley.
